HPR High Balls 1

HPR High Balls 2 If you subscribe to High Power Rocketry, you already know that the June 2004 issue has nice coverage of our very own Richard Hagensick. You can find him in the article Great Balls of Fire, that covers the fourth annual Arizona High Power Rocketry Association Bowling Ball Contest that took place at LDRS XXII in Argonia, Kansas.

The first three contests featured a competition to send an eight-pound bowling ball to the highest altitude on a certified K motor. But the articles author, Robin Meredith, reports that flights were reaching such heights that for the LDRS XXII competition they made the challenge tougher. Richards beautifully finished High Balls16 was among a field of eight rockets attempting to send a 16 pound rocket to the highest altitude on a certified K motor.

To the left is a photo of Richard as it appears in the magazine. He represented our TSM club proudly. His wonderfully finished rocket came in a highly respectable second among the field of hardy bowling ball lofters braving the still, hot air of the Argonia flatlands.
